exactly, they've been listening to the community about higher level cap now the community doesn't want it?

make up your minds....

No level cap is a load of bullshit. Right there that would make me not buy the game.

That is the exact reason I use Major Vigor over Superior. 9hp has almost no affect at all, and when I can sell a superior vigor for around 12k and then buy a major one for 2k, I can clearly see which one is the better value.

But anyway, for all of you who are worried about the whole level cap (or lack of) issue, I suggest you read the GW2 FAQ on the official GW2 wiki that was released a week or two ago. Basically, I'm referring to the section quite close to the bottom:

Yes, but the final cap hasn't been announced. It could be as high as 100 or even limitless.

Isn't that going to get in the way of me playing with my friends?

A side-kick system will be used which will bring your armor and power up to that of people you are with.

Am I going to have to endlessly grind to be the most powerful I can be?

No. The amount of power you get at higher levels will reduce significantly. At some point you will not get any more powerful by gaining more levels.
To me, it sounds like they will have a pretty good balance between a level cap and increasing bragging rights. Of course there'll always be those "HAha I'm higher level, n00b" people, but luckily you can always ignore them.

Sounds a lot like they haven't learned any of the lessons behind what made GuildWars a success.

true.

About the level system, it's exactly as a ton of people have been saying. It'll be the same as GW1, except with a higher cap where you become "all powerful" and the game really starts...everything after it is completely superfluous. You already have a system in GW1 with an infinite level cap, it just doesn't change the #. This would basically be the difference in GW1. Now instead of being level 400 and being level "20", I'll be level 400 and have the power of a level 20.

i don't really mind no level cap, since they talked about people with lvl 60 having the same power thn an anotehr one with lvl 120.

if there would not have any caped levels, my 2 years old canthan ranger would be level 748

lol, my main character has more then 2000 hours on it. don't let the "hours" get to you.

I am very excited about some of these mention in the interview.

1) you will be able to move your character from one world to another whenever you want
2) There will also be PvP battles between the worlds
3) all over the world there will be something happening!
4) battle for specific strategic positions (i think this is how you hold your town from now onwards)

I wouldn't worry about the level caps, or the hours you need to level your character, unless you are one of those must get to highest level to show off type . because when you enter PvP you will be temporarily set to same level as the rest of the players (the side-kick system has been mentioned which would allow characters of a lower level to play with high level characters without disadvantage), and this PvP happens inside PvE (sort of) is what I understand from reading the many interviews. and you just need to enjoy and play your game as you like and level your character whenever you want to.

no more separating PvE and PvP character, alll the qq about PvP character getting PvE gears will be gone, all the PvE characters wanting PvP emote will be no more! it will be one!

plus everyone has to "role play" since if a dragon were to come and destroy your village/town/outpost, you must defend it. in the interview it was mentioned that if we managed to Slay the dragon (woot, we slay the dragon, mwahahah) then the town folks will start to re-build the bridge and we have to set up sentry.

what happens if the dragon is not slain? interesting? ! definitely! you guys worry too much!

Long as there's no open pk, at least in the whole thing. Having a different "world" just for that, cool. But open end pvp in every game is the lamest thing in the world.

That really what I want to be killed but some idiot thinking he's the **** b/c he can ghost a ninja while he's mobbed...

I think you get to choose if you want to join the PvP or not, its an option.

Don't think they let you get mobbed/killed, unless they are stupid, since there has been so many qq about low level getting kill by high lvl already.

Your problem is the same problem of most of the GW community. You think of the community as one whole entity, which it isn't, it's a million people, who all want a million different things.

I for one loved the low level cap, kept to the skill > time. Never complained once.

GW2 will have systems to make its PvP equal to and better than GW1. Its PvE will rival that of WoW. To all those that think it isn't going to be great, I think you might want to rethink that view. I can't wait to see the look on your faces when it's fully announced and revealed.

You're welcome!

As long as their isn't titles in GW2 then I don't see a difference in grinding GW1 titles with a lvl cap of 20 and GW2 with high level cap and no titles.

Grind is Grind!

Also you guys need to find out how fast you can gain levels, what if you jump levels relatively fast? We don't know all the final details yet.

Would rather keep the level cap relatively low. I don't want a WoW PvE system where I have to do 999999999 side quests before I can actually play the story line for 10 minutes then go "WTF SON OF B***** BOSS*

They're keeping what worked and fixing what failed. The balanced competetive PvP will stay but will no longer put limitations on PvE.
Way to go!

I want to buy it A.S.A.P. I loved the first so much that it would only make sense to buy the second.

And thats way most sequels pale in comparison to the original. But, GW 2, despite how bad it sounds, is not out yet to make that judgement just yet.

They fixed that already, by splitting some of the more critical skills into pve and pvp variants. No need to make a new game just to fix stuff like that.

And they're not keeping what worked; level 20 level cap worked, and it's going the way of the giganticus lupicus. The whole part about "leveling our characters for hundreds of hours" seems to be a big turn-off for every GW fan. At the very least, it doesn't seem like anyone wants a grindfest just to play the main game.

I'd prefer it if the PvE world had less instances. Since leveling isn't really a big deal, I don't care too much about kill-stealing. I love the PvP style in Guild Wars however. I like the GW PvP style now, I just want more game play modes to mess around with. Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry could have been a lot better if it was more flexible with the players in the game.

le sigh

a) you can already level your character for hundreds of hours in GW1. I'm level 400 something. w00t. It does nothing for you, which the FAQ already states will happen once you reach "the cap", but it visually will keep going higher (unlike GW1).

b) maybe the game is balanced around level 30, but is just as fast to get there.
